  • {Poisona} {No Thanks!}

Ok I tend to stick to melee's. The few times I level mage jobs Its out of boredom or necessity. But when you hit Kazham seeing as thats the "Popular" place to level, you have to hit up mandies.

We all know the annoyance of their Sleepga Ability. So why do people kick and scream about being poisoned when it prevents you from being slept? For a while I was actually taking poison potions with me (making them myself with alchemy) and keeping myself poisoned. And I have to keep yelling at the WHM's and bards to stop poisonaing me. Sure i'm taking 1-2 hp a tick every now and then. But its nothing serious. And I know this is a popular tactic at very high levels on mobs who do the same thing. So why isn't it practiced much in Kazham to counter the sleepga chaos? Especially for jobs like DRG MNK WAR and NIN who usually do not have to /heal Is there some other damage that the poison is doing that I'm not seeing. Because as far as can tell its only doing 1-2 dmg a tick and sometimes even misses a lot of ticks. At level 25-30 your usually pushing 300-500 hp IIRC so its not much damage.

leaving the poison alone in the kazam jungles is actually a very good idea. a lot of healers, especially the new ones, just don't seem to figure it out.

when i took my whm through the jungles, i made the mistake of using poisona a little too often, mostly out of habit. it simply isn't instinct to see someone poisoned and NOT try to cure them -.-

The thing Is I just took whm through. And when a Tank or DD asked for Poisona I'd tell them that I'd rather have them be able to voke off me if we all get slept, then have them stand around and me die because I Divine/Cure II'ed their ass or something. In my opinion. Letting them stay poisoned saves me more mp, then having to cast Cure on everyone.

Beecause in Valkurm Flies and Lizard Poison do insane damage D: >_>; And some people think it carries on with Leaf Dagger too....that and alot of people ask for poisona..which i dont bother if its the 1HP/Tick ones..now if its 3HP vs lizards or 10HP(i think) in promyvion or something like that..then i would :x

I understand fly and lizard poison. But were talking mandies and the anti-sleep effects. So Its beyond me why people like being kept asleep.

I would think its more that they dont like negative effects even if it has a plus side...OMG POISON GET IT OFF MEH!!!1111one!

Its just what you do when you get negative effects.

When I took my whm through these lvls, I ran into this same issue. While I left the poison up and running on people, I got a lot of angry msgs from them. Trying to explain that is beneficial just didn't fly with the new players. The biggest arguement they had was "Ok so what if you get slept and its hitting only me and I'm poisoned. I'm going to die because you can't cure me even if I kill it!" Which is a valid point but would probably be rather rare to happen. Since mages get slept more than poisoned by mandies, I guess a good solution would be for the mages to use poison pots. But, meh, I took the poison off if they whined and believe me, they did!

If your lucky you can get a camp where your mages are far enough away to dodge Sleepga, But damn it seems like the range on that skill keeps going up.

The last time I remember it being used I counted 18 people who got slept.

if your lucky to have your mages far enough back, than more than likely your in another groups sleepga range its frustrating when your mages get sleeped by another group when your in battle

While leveling in Kazham I actually don't poisona people unless they request it for that very reason, it just makes for one less useless cure I have to cast when the mandy does its sleepga skill.

I just hit 'em with Regen.

It's enough to counter the Poison, even gaining HP, and if they get Slept, they can just cancel the Regen and wake up.

When I took BLM through the Jungles, I'd been through with so man jobs, I instinctively knew the range, so I very rarely was Slept. It amazes me how many mages don't know the range of popular AoE's at Lv.65+.

However, for DRG, if I remember, I bring some Poison Potions. Nothing like those bastards killing a Skillchain to really make ya mad!

Regen doesnt cancel Sleep if i remember right, Stoneskin does however because poison eats that instead of you. You just gain 4HP instead and still wake up if i remember right....

That is correct, Regen DOEST NOT wake you up from Sleep. However that wasn't what I was saying.

If you're poisoned, Regen helps keep your HP "stable." In the case of Mandys, the poison is weak enough that with Regen you will actually gain HP. However, if a mob then does AoE Sleep, all the person has to do is cancel the Regen, and the poison will wake them up. That's what I was pointing out.

Honestly... I'm not sure about the Stoneskin Vs. Sleep though. Since Sleep doesn't actually do any damage, then again I've never come across a chance to test this. Can anybody else verify this? (Not that I don't trust your word, lionx, just my immediate notion is to say that Stoneskin won't help you resist Sleep.)

What i meant was that, i am pretty sure with Regen and Sleep, along with Poison, it will wake you up, so you dont have to cancel the Regen itself. I think.

Stoneskin vs Sleep? Try playing Ballista, if you have stoneskin, and drink a poison pot, then a BLM does Sleep on you, you wont wake up until you cancel the Stoneskin.

AH!! O.K. I gotcha. I was misunderstanding everything. lol Sorry. I thought you were saying that Stoneskin will eat Sleep! I use Stoneskin to counter Dia, Bio, & Poison all the time. I've actually had to cancel Stoneskin so Poison could wake me in Bibiki bay. Those BLM Gobbies out there are annoying. Casting Sleepga II, then cast Sleep on somebody who's already asleep.
